Yesterday someone asked me to share the story of how my elderberry syrup came to be. When I think back to the very beginning all I can describe it as a frantic time in my young motherhood. My sweet Jenna was around 9 or 10 years old and she would get so sick every year with the flu. I had taken her to her pediatrician so many times in a month that I thought I was going crazy. Her big blue eyes were so lifeless and dull from the fevers she’d had.
The doctors were stumped with what could be wrong. After so many tests and blood work, her Dr decided that we needed to start looking at blood disorders and wanted to test Jenna for Leukemia. My mind was numb, while my heart was terrified. This child of mine was my quiet companion, always by my side.
I asked my dear friend to pray for Jenna and she mentioned elderberry syrup to boost her immune system. The ironic part is that my freezer was full of elderberries. It’s my favorite pie!! I gathered the ingredients that I could find to make it taste less bitter and gave it a shot. Though Jenna was on antibiotics for what we later realized from specific blood work was a form of strep, she loved the elderberry syrup from the start. To this day, Jenna gets my first jar every year, and the last jar I pour from every batch goes into the refrigerator with her name on it. It took me three years to perfect the recipe I have now. Unless it can be bottled the way I want it, with all the same properties, you won’t be able to find it in my website. That is how I came up with Sweet Maisey’s Elderberry Tea. Same ingredients for all to enjoy.
All of this has led me down a path to find products that meets the needs of all three of them. All of my products are made with them in mind. ( Except the Beard Booster😂) All of my products are coconut free so my middle daughter can enjoy them all too. From start to finish, I always think of them and how they have been my saving grace in this crazy thing called life, even if they are adults now.
Thank you for allowing me to share my stories. Stay warm and Happy Monday!
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your story and talent with us Jenn!
